As America Sleeps Our Health Freedom Is Being Lost!

So much is happening legislatively on health related issues while Americans are distracted with current events. Can we trust goverment bureaucrats on issues relating to our health? Have they earned our trust by enforcing Country OF Origin Labeling? No. Are they working to preserve and enforce our Organic Food Standards? No. Do you really believe they will act in the interests of the public over the interests of pharmaceutical, pesticide, chemical, dairy, food, grocery and biotechnology industries? Or, harminization with the World Trade Organization's Codex Alimentarius Commissiom, the North American Union preparation or other international trade agreements? Health Note: Harminization threatens DSHEA.

If we act in mass our legislators will listen and act in our favor. This is the lesson of DSHEA (Dietary Supplement Health & Education Act of 1994). It takes millions actively contacting their legislators to move them. Currently we are LOSING BADLY on most fronts. If we do not turn it around we will have to fight for years to undue the anti-health freedom legislation being passed today. Corporations have already put-up websites and have control of trade organizations to put out calming, deflective and misleading information. Read the Draft Complementary and Alternative Medicine Products and their Regulation by the FDA (also see side bar). Realize the extent of this proposed law, it reaches into almost every alternative health care practice. For instance supplemental cranberry tablets recommended by your practitioner become a medical drug or an untested medical drug.... Juice used in juice therapy for the purpose of healing is a medical drug or an untested medical drug. Even massage implements and oils are mentioned and may be subject to regulation under the Act. Subtle Energy practices (ie: EFT) are also mentioned. All healing products and devices will be under FDA regulation. If a device or drug is declared an untested medical device or drug would it be illegal to use? I believe the effect of losing access to "tools of the trade" if you will would hurt many Alternative Practices. Can you imagine a Doctor who uses Nutritional Therapies and cannot recommend a specific fresh organic juice therapy because the FDA defines it as an untested medical drug!

Below is an excerpt which by itself is innocuouse, but taken in context with the FDA mindset (ie: FDA's Complementary and Alternative Medicine Products and their Regulation and the FDA's active role in support of and creation of the Codex Alimentarius Commission Guidelines, see sidebar) it could be applied to legitimate health options that have been safely practiced for decades, centuries if not thousands of years. Purpose

To consolidate and maintain a formal framework for trilateral cooperation in combating health fraud, so as to protect and promulgate the health and economic well being of citizens of all three nations and to identify appropriate lines of communication to ensure a continual exchange of information on compliance and enforcement activities among the three countries.

Health Fraud Definition

For the purposes of this Working Group, health fraud may include the following:

The false, deceptive, or misleading promotion, advertisement, distribution, sale, possession for sale, or offering for sale of products or provision of services, intended for human use, that are represented as being safe and/or effective to diagnose, prevent, cure, treat, or mitigate disease (or other conditions), to rehabilitate patients or to provide a beneficial effect on health.

Objectives

To the extent compatible with their laws, enforcement policies, and other important interests, each member country shall

develop and implement comprehensive collaborative approaches and mechanisms to deal with health fraud;

share information describing current trends in health fraud and strategies for addressing emerging problems;

cooperate in the detection of cross-border health fraud;

inform counterpart agencies as soon as practicable of significant investigations and proceedings involving health fraud occurring or originating in the jurisdiction of each member country;

consider counterpart agency requests to investigate domestic activities having harmful cross-border effects;

consider coordinating related enforcement activities with counterpart agencies in appropriate cases;

coordinate import surveillance activities and share information that would maximize surveillance efforts;

develop and disseminate joint consumer and business education messages about health fraud;

seek to promote cooperation among federal, state, provincial and local law enforcement agencies of all three member countries, and as appropriate, seek to include such agencies in cooperative efforts to combat health fraud; and

develop further strategies to achieve coordinated compliance and enforcement; joint consumer and business education; trilateral communication and information exchanges; and the building of partnerships to combat health fraud.

Through new laws, redefining and harminization the FDA is definetly trying to extend its influence and mindset into alternative medicine, supplements, herbs, functional foods and more. If the FDA does not recognize the nutritional approach or alternative therapy, or it has not been tested, doctors will not be allowed to use it. It would be called Quackry or Health Fraud. Also, the AMA takes away the licenses of doctors who use methods not wholly approved by them. Thus by a simple redefining The FDA in effect outlaws non-alopathic approaches to health care and relables alternative therapies, alternative medicines, nutritional therapies, vitamins, herbs and other supplements as untested drugs and devices. Which of course takes them off the market until someone can afford to test them. This would cost millions of dollars for each and take years.

Another important point, how hard is it to influence local, state or national issues, bureaucrats or elected officials? How many people must be motivated to take action before a campaign for lets say nutritional supplements can be won? Time, Costs and numbers of people required climb considerably from local to national issues. Now what does it cost to change nutritional supplement laws in a North American Union or A Pan American Union? Can you imagine a campaign on a global scale with Codex Alimentarius? Will most issues fall between the cracks for lack of influence? Cost? Or will the impossibity to bring enough people together on an issue globally cause most people to throw in the towel before they even start. It makes one think about the beauty and the FREEDOM of local political control doesn't it. Where there is no hope of influence or self-determination, there is no FREEDOM.

Remember DSHEA! In America we can make a difference! And, we must protect our rights, our health, and our families. In so doing we just may help millions in other countries but we must act now!
